It is no secret that Chelsea are after a new striker.
With Alvaro Morata's barren run of form in front of goal showing no signs of ending and Antonio Conte's apparent lack of faith in back-up striker Michy Batshuayi, Chelsea want a target-man who would provide a different option up front.
But it seems as if the west London club are considering signing every top flight target-man in Europe.
Chelsea have been consistently linked with a move for Fernando Llorente and Christian Benteke, whereas a move for Andy Carroll was also touted as a possibility earlier this month.
Elsewhere, it has been reported that Conte is set to make a move for former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
And in one of the most sensational transfer stories yet, Peter Crouch, who turns 37-years-old next week, has even emerged as a shock target for the club.
CONTE HAS MADE AN ENQUIRY FOR ANOTHER PL STRIKER
But, if reports are to be believed Conte now has his eyes set on another surprise Premier League target.
According to Duncan Castles at The Times, Chelsea have now made an enquiry to sign Islam Slimani from Leicester City.
Big things were expected from the Algerian after making the €30m from Sporting in 2016, but he has failed to live up to expectations - having scored just eight times in 35 Premier League appearances.
That includes finding the back of the net just once for Leicester in the league this season.
But despite his woes in front of goal, Castles reports that Chelsea have shown an interest in taking him on loan until the end of the season.
Edin Dzeko remains their key target, but if he does decide to make the switch to Stamford Bridged he will be cup-tied in the Champions League, whereas Slimani would not be.
Leicester are believed to be open to selling the 29-year-old, however they have so far proved unreceptive to a loan move.
Batshuayi, of whom Conte has little trust in, will be allowed to leave on loan if Conte manages to secure the signing of a striker eligible to play in the Champions League.
Chelsea have just over a week to sign a striker and if they are to sign any of the Premier League forwards they have been linked with, it would still come as a huge surprise.
